- Go to the Home screen.
- To open the menu, swipe up on the screen.
- Scroll down.
- Choose Moto.
- Choose the list symbol.
- Choose Gestures.
- Choose Sidebar.
- Turn on Sidebar.
- If this screen appears, tap the screen.
- If this screen does not appear, go to the next step.
- Sidebar has been turned on.
- Choose Settings.
- To remove an application from the sidebar, choose the minus symbol next to the application.
- To add an application to the sidebar, check an app. In this case, check Facebook.
- To rearrange the order of the apps, choose and hold an app, then drag it to a different position.
- Choose Tools.
- To add a quick action to the sidebar, check an option.
- Choose Contacts.
- To add a calling shortcut for a contact, check an option.
- Choose More Settings.
- Optional: Change one or more options.
- Return to the Home screen.
- To open the sidebar, drag the bar on the right-hand side of the screen to the left.
- To adjust the position of the sidebar, choose and hold the gray line at the top and drag it to a different position.
- To view all apps, choose the options symbol.
- Choose an app, in this case, Messages.
- The app is now open in a freeform window.
- To minimize the app, choose the minimize symbol.
- To expand the app, choose the floating app symbol.
- To open the app in full-screen mode, choose the full-screen symbol.
- Choose the recent apps symbol.
- Choose the app symbol.
- To bring the app back into freeform view, choose Freeform.
- To adjust the position of the freeform window, choose and hold the gray line at the top and drag it to a different position.
- Note: Double tap the gray line at the top to hide the menu options.
- To adjust the size of the freeform window, drag one of the bottom corners.
- Note: Drag the bottom corner all the way down to bring the app back to full-screen mode or drag it all the way up to minimize it.
- To close the freeform window, choose the cross symbol.
- You are now more familiar with the Sidebar feature.
